Newick (phylogenetic tree)

Draws a phylogenetic tree (a tree of evolutionary/hierarchical relationships between species) written in Newick format as a visual tree diagram.

Syntax

```newick
((A:0.1,B:0.2):0.3,(C:0.4,D:0.5):0.6);
```

Parentheses represent branching, and the numbers after each colon represent branch length (distance/time).

What it's for

Showing biology, evolutionary relationships, or hierarchical/tree-shaped relationships in general, using a text-based format.

Source

The syntax of the Newick format is widely documented in bioinformatics resources ("Newick tree format"). The visualization library Tsunagi uses is phylotree.js.

Tsunagi-specific note

The tree's own coloring (leaf labels, lines) is fixed; to keep it visible in dark mode, the whole diagram's colors are inverted, since the library itself has no separate dark theme.
